Maundy Thursday at Infant Jesus Parish: A Celebration of Love, Service, and Interfaith Harmony.

Maundy Thursday, a solemn day in the Christian calendar, commemorates the Last Supper of our Lord Jesus Christ and His humble act of washing the feet of His disciples. At Infant Jesus Parish,RK Puram,Trichy this sacred occasion was marked not only with deep reverence but also with a meaningful gesture of unity—the participation of four Hindu and four Muslim brothers in the feet-washing ceremony and Eucharistic procession.

Guided by our beloved Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Antony Sundarapandian, the celebration took on a truly inclusive spirit. By inviting members of other faiths to partake in these profound rituals, the parish embraced the message of Christ in its fullest sense—love without borders, service without discrimination.

Rev. Fr. Antony Sundarapandian washed the feet of individuals representing the Catholic, Hindu, and Muslim faiths. This powerful visual representation underscored the shared values of humility, service, and love that transcend religious boundaries.

The washing of feet, symbolic of humility and servant leadership, became a moment of shared humanity. It reminded all present that beyond religious identities, we are called to serve one another with compassion and respect. The presence of Hindu and Muslim friends during the Eucharistic procession further emphasized the unity that is possible when hearts are open and hands are joined in peace.

This gesture was more than symbolic; it was a witness to the world that faith can be a bridge, not a barrier. In a time when divisions often make headlines, Infant Jesus Parish stood as a beacon of hope, showing that interfaith harmony is not just an ideal, but a lived reality.

Rev. Fr. Antony Sundarapandian emphasized that this initiative was rooted in the spirit of inclusivity and the desire to build bridges of understanding. He stated, "Our faith calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves. By inviting our Hindu and Muslim brothers to participate in these significant moments of our liturgical calendar, we aim to create a tangible symbol of our shared humanity and our commitment to living together in peace and harmony."

This initiative by Infant Jesus Parish stands as a commendable example of how religious traditions can be celebrated in a way that fosters interfaith dialogue and strengthens the bonds of community, promoting a society where mutual respect and understanding prevail.

May this spirit of togetherness continue to grow and inspire many more, as we walk together in faith, love, and service.
